Lough Gur Visitor Centre

Lough Gur is a small horseshoe shaped lake south of Limerick city. It is one of Ireland's principal archaeological sites. The site was continuously occupied from the Neolithic period to late medieval times. There are dwellings dating back to 500 & 1000 AD. There is a wedge tomb dating back to 2500 BC. Also there is the Grange Stone Circle, the largest and most remarkable of its kind in Ireland. There's free access to the lake, shores and pleasant parkland, which is perfect for picnics. The visitors centre also offers an audiovisual presentation.

The Burren National Park

The Burren National Park is located in the southeastern corner of the Burren and is approximately 1500 hectares in size. The Park land was bought by the Government for nature conservation and public access. It contains examples of all the major habitats within the Burren: Limestone Pavement, Calcareous grassland, Hazel scrub, Ash/hazel woodland, Turloughs, Lakes, Petrifying springs, cliffs and Fen. The Burren region is internationally famous for its landscape and flora.

A visit to the Burren during the summer months will leave a person amazed by the colourful diversity of flowering plants living together within the one ecosystem. 75% of the plants found in Ireland are represented in the flora of the Burren. Some of the rarer plants are protected under European Legislation, more under the 1999 Flora Protection Order. The National Park hosts a wide range of mammals. Most of the mammal life of the park is nocturnal in habit but Hares, Foxes and Pigmy Shrews may be encountered during daytime.

Imecofarm is Irelands first Renewable Energy Farm.  There are plenty of animals to see including donkeys, pigs, hens, rabbits, lambs, birds and calves. It also has huge indoor play areas for children along with a farm shop and a café.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

Cliffs of Moher and O'Brien's Tower

The majestic Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's most spectacular sights and overlook the Atlantic Ocean on the coast of West Clare. Located just north of Lahinch they are 8km long and 214m high, The Cliffs claim one of the most astonishing views in Ireland, on a clear day the Aran Islands are visible in Galway Bay as well as the valleys and hills of Connemara.

The Hunt Museum

The Hunt Museum is housed in the tastefully restored Old Custom House. This is the finest 18th-century building in Limerick. The facade is a reduced copy of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. Housed in the museum are some of the finest ancient, medieval and modern treasures found in Ireland. They include antiquities and art objects from Europe and Ireland. Ancient Irish metalwork, medieval bronzes, ivories, and enamels. There is a shop and a restaurant in the museum that make it a very enjoyable day out. Adare Heritage Centre

In the centre of the village is this great heritage centre. It is housed in a stone building with a traditional courtyard. There is a short audiovisual presentation to help you make sense of the ruins scattered around the area. The model shows the village in 1500 and is really worth a look. Foynes Flying Boat Museum

During the 1930s and early 1940s, the Port of Foynes was the fulcrum point for air traffic between the United States and Europe. In preparation are the lists of passengers who travelled through both going East or West. For aviation buffs, this museum is a must.
